Retention

When we remove your braces, the retention phase of your treatment begins. This phase truly lasts a lifetime because as long as you live, your teeth have the potential to move. As you age, the pressures put upon your teeth by your lips, cheeks, and tongue will change and these changes can affect tooth alignment. This is why we recommend you wear your retainers indefinitely, even if only a few nights a week.

Maintaining your final orthodontic result depends on you and your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing and clean your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.

Removable Retainers

The Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth. Similar to Invisalign trays, Essix retainers have no wires. Often they can be fabricated while you wait and they are easier to wear. Essix retainers can be used for other treatments as well, including minor tooth movement.

Your removable retainers should be worn every night unless your orthodontist tells you otherwise.
