Meet Dr. Keener
Dylan J. Keener, DMD, MS

Dr. Keener is a native of Myerstown, Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Pennsylvania State University, where he was a member of the 2005 Big Ten Championship soccer team. Upon graduation, he was awarded the United States Navy Health Professions Scholarship and attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, graduating with Honors in Clinical Practice. He subsequently spent 6 years as a Navy Dental Officer, serving in North Carolina, Morocco, and Pearl Harbor.
Dr. Keener completed a three-year residency in Orthodontics at the University of Michigan, where he was the recipient of the James A. McNamara Fellowship Award. His research on Canine Impaction has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Keener achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2022.
Like Dr. Horbaly, Dr. Keener has accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Virginia Health Systems Department of Dentistry, mentoring residents in the General Practice Residency. Additionally, he will serve on the University's Cleft Palate team, treating patients with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial disorders.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. K enjoys spending time with his wife, Leigh Anne, their two boys, and their "first boy" Cheese, a golden retriever, and of course cheering on Penn State Football! Dr. Keener is proud to maintain his orthodontic office as a private, local, and veteran-owned office serving the Charlottesville community!
